An eastern Kentucky man has perished in a house fire.
Kentucky State Police said the fatal fire occurred on Friday evening at approximately 7:00 on Turkey Foot Road in Bear Branch in Leslie Couinty.
After the fire was extinguished, the body of a deceased individual was discovered inside the residence. The investigation showed the man killed in the fire was 68-year-old Rex Smallwood, of Bear Branch.
At this time, no foul play is suspected, state police said.
The remains have been transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The incident remains under investigation by KSP Det. Darrell Hicks.
