At least one death in Kentucky is blamed on the severe weather experienced throughout the commonwealth.
Gov. Andy Beshear said on social media on Monday that a 72-year-old woman died from hypothermia.
“Kentucky, I’ve got some sad news to share. We’ve confirmed one fatality in Whitley County with the passing of a 72-year-old woman due to hypothermia. Please join me in praying for her family during this difficult time.”
The woman’s family told WKYT.com that the victim who passed away was Betty Veach. She died Sunday at Baptist Health Corbin.
Veach’s son told the Lexington television station that his mother, who suffered from dementia, fell near railroad tracks not far from her residence and died from a head injury.
