A misdirected truck driver snapped a utility pole in half in Leitchfield.

The incident happened on Wednesday night at approximately 6:15 at the intersection of West Main Street and Fraim Street.

Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Chuck Hoover and Officer Brian Jennings responded and provided traffic control as a utility company arrived and replaced the pole.

The truck driver, according to police, was intending to travel to New York Blower (located on Goff Drive) when he made a sharp right turn from West Main Street onto Fraim Street. During the turn, the truck’s trailer ran over the power pole, snapping it in half. It appeared that only one household lost electricity due to the incident.

The driver, who was not injured, told officers that his GPS directed him to take the wrong route.

Jennings provided an escort to New York Blower once the semi-truck was cleared to leave the scene.
