A suspect has been shot and killed during a home invasion.
According to the Harrodsburg Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired at 5:15 a.m. on Friday “at an address in Harrodsburg.”
Upon arriving at the scene, police located a male, later identified as 36-year-old Daniel Hyatt, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Hyatt was shot by the homeowner, apparently as the suspect broke into the residence.
The Mercer County Coroner’s Office told WTVQ.com that Hyatt and the homeowner were once neighbors.
No other information has been released as the investigation is ongoing.
