A man has been accused of intentionally causing the death of an unborn child.
The Bell County Sheriff’s Office said a Bell County Grand Jury indicted 35-year-old Taylor C. Dehart on February 6 for first-degree fetal homicide, a capital offense in Kentucky.
Dehart was indicted for “intentionally causing the death of an unborn child by repeatedly physically abusing the pregnant mother, inflicting blunt force trauma to her abdomen, and placental abdomen, and ultimately the death of the unborn child,” according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.
Dehart was arrested on Friday in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, in a joint effort that included U.S. Marshals, the Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force and Bell County Sheriff’s Office along with multiple Tennessee law enforcement agencies.
The suspect was also served with multiple warrants, including for fourth-degree assault and two Kentucky Department of Corrections probation violation warrants. He was additionally served with a probation violation warrant out of Georgia after being convicted of armed robbery, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.
Dehart was lodged in the Claiborne County (TN) Jail as he awaits extradition to Kentucky.
