
Better known as “Jimmy” or “Jim,” James Murrell Blessitt, 64, gained his wings, (February 16th, 2026), at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. James was born January 19th, 1962, in Louisville Kentucky to the late Murrell Blessitt and Linda Lindsey-Salls.
James was a Jack of All Trades and Master of None. He had a big heart, an even bigger laugh and never failed to laugh at his own jokes. He was known to help everyone else before he would help himself. He never met a stranger. He loved fishing, telling those big fish tales, gardening, cooking, and those who knew him, knew he could cook. He will be forever be loved and missed by those who he called family and friends.
James is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Bobby) Basham of Hardinsburg; sister, Terri (Patrick) Riley of California; nephew, Jeffrey (Holly) Blessitt of Leitchfield; grandchildren, Lelamae and Jerry Majors; great-grandbaby Luna Rae Green; his life partners’ daughters, Amanda and Savannah Powell; and his beloved dog Foxxy.
James is preceded in death by his father, Murrell Blessitt; mother, Linda Lindsey-Salls; brother, Jeffrey Blessitt; sister, Robin Blessitt; niece, Linda Tran; life partner, Tami Powell and many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Cremation was chosen and expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Dermitt Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
