An employee at a Bridgestone plant in Williamsburg has died in a workplace accident.
The incident happened Wednesday morning at approximately 11:00, according to a report by WKYT.com, at the company’s Firestone Airide manufacturing and distribution center in Whitley County.
The Williamsburg Police Department told media outlets that “it appears a man was operating a piece of equipment on the warehouse side of the plant when there was an accident with a standing rack.”
The worker was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The plant, according to the company’s website, “manufactures and distributes air springs for automotive, heavy-duty truck and trailer, and seat/cab springs applications.”
The 443,000-square-foot facility employs several hundred people following an expansion in 2022.
The Williamsburg Police Department and Whitley County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death.
