Kentucky State Police is investigating after a house fire claimed the life of a 60-year-old man.
The fire occurred Tuesday morning just before 10:00 at a home on Amburgey Road in Booneville in Owsley County, state police said. The preliminary investigation revealed that Vernon Herald, of Booneville, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but at this time foul play is not suspected, according to state police.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting Kentucky State Police Det. Casey Caudill in determining the origin and cause of the blaze.
