The Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a report of smoke inside the old city hall building.
Firefighters responded Monday morning at approximately 7:55 to 314 West White Oak Street, the old Leitchfield City Hall now occupied by CenterWell Home Health, on the report of smoke inside the building.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found no smoke coming from the building, but there was “hazy smoke” lingering just below the ceiling of the bottom floor of the two-story building, Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall said.
During a search of the building, Duvall said firefighters determined the smoke originated in an HVAC unit on the west side of the building.
Duvall told K105 that a fan on the blower motor “seized up” but the belt continued to turn, causing the smoke. The blower motor itself was working properly.
LFD personnel cleared the scene at 8:20.
