A 19-year-old man was shot and killed and another victim shot at a Daviess County field party, as the shooting suspect is on the run.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded Saturday morning at approximately 1:00 to near the intersection of Hwy 144 and St. Lawrence Road in Knottsville in eastern Daviess County.

“Initial reports indicate that there was an altercation at a field party and that an unknown subject began firing a handgun striking multiple people,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.

The victims were transported by private means to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Two deputies were dispatched to the hospital where two people were being treated for gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, a 19-year-old male, died from his injuries. The other victim, a juvenile, was released from the hospital on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The investigation led police to track “two persons of interest” from Knottsville to La Grange, in Oldham County.

Law enforcement in Oldham County “quickly located the suspects’ vehicle parked and unoccupied in a La Grange neighborhood at about 8:00 a.m. Saturday,” the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities then obtained search warrants for “residences” as well as for the suspects’ vehicle.

“The ensuing searches revealed several vital pieces of evidence that tie the suspects to the shooting,” according to the sheriff’s office.

One of the suspects, 19-year-old Ayden L. Farrow, of La Grange, was arrested during a traffic stop in Oldham County. He was returned to Owensboro and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center where he was charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension and tampering with physical evidence. Farrow is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

The second suspect, 20-year-old James S. Carr, of Crestwood, is currently being sought on murder, second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence charges.
