A Bullitt County man is behind bars after allegedly beating his wife to death with a piece of wood, rendering her “unrecognizable.”
The Mt. Washington Police Department responded Friday night at approximately 9:20 to the 100 block of Williamsburg Court and observed the suspect, 67-year-old Richard L. Chesher, covered in blood as he stood in his garage with the body of his wife, Bonnie Chesher, lying on the garage floor, according to a report by WAVE.com.
Chesher was immediately detained.
Police told WAVE.com that the victim was also covered in blood and that she had been beaten so severely that she was “unrecognizable.”
The suspect had apparently killed his wife inside their residence and dragged her body to the garage, as he was possibly about to load the body into his truck, which was backed up to the open garage.
Police located a piece of wood, covered in blood, that was likely used to kill Bonnie Chesher.
Richard Chesher was lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center where he’s been charged with murder (domestic violence), tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
