GCHS students compete in math, science competition at WKU

Several Grayson County High School students recently competed in a math and science competition at Western Kentucky University.

GCHS competed against nine other high schools from Kentucky and Tennessee: Doss, Greenwood, Logan County, McCracken County, Pleasure Ridge Park, and Warren East along with Tennessee high schools Green Hill (Mt. Juliet), Mt. Juliet, and Rossview (Clarksville).

A total of 143 students competed.

“We learned a lot on this trip and couldn’t be more proud of our students and their results, and for how they behaved and carried themselves representing Grayson County,” trip advisors Raven Cannon and J.T. Burns said.

GCHS students placed in the following events:

  • Complex Numbers – 3rd place out of 12 competitors: Thomas Shelton
  • Geometry – 3rd place out of nine competitors: Colton Skaggs
  • Geometry – 4th place out of 10 competitors: Lincoln Collier
  • Geometry – 5th place out of 10 competitors: Cooper Justis
  • Algebraic Equations – 5th place out of nine competitors: Karver Decker
  • Algebra – 4th place out of 10 competitors: Lincoln Collier

The freshman team came, comprised of Levi Masden, Jane Bohannon, Wayne Clark, and Eli Haycraft, came in fifth place.

The sophomore team, comprised of Levi Scott, Cooper Justis, James Smith, and Skylar Chhor, came in fourth place.

Results were provided by Grayson County Schools.
