Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials recently received a tip that someone had alligators in their basement.
On February 11, the Mt. Washington Police Department contacted Fish and Wildlife officials “regarding a report of a person possibly possessing an alligator.”
Fish and Wildlife personnel responded and conducted a “knock-and-talk” along with Mt. Washington officers at an undisclosed address.
“When asked about the alligator, the subject escorted officers to the basement where two alligators and one caiman (crocodilian reptiles related to alligators) were located,” according to Fish and Wildlife.
The person, whose name was not released, was charged with three counts of propagation and holding of wildlife without a permit, a class B misdemeanor for a first offense.
No other information was released.
