Funeral arrangements have been announced for former Leitchfield mayor, William Harold “Turkey” Thomason.
Thomason, 84, passed away on Wednesday at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.
In a tribute to Thomason, current Leitchfield Mayor Harold Miller told K105: “Having known Bill most of my life, I can honestly say that this community has lost its best friend. I’ve watched Mayor Thomason do things for this community and its people that most will never know. Countless times I have seen him help those in need, and never once have I seen him ask for anything in return.”
Thomason was born on October 22, 1941, in Duff. He was the son of the late Albert H. and Emily Louise Burnett Thomason.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at The Rock in Leitchfield, behind Leitchfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Jordan Hunter and Shane Thomason will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and will move to The Rock on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Leitchfield Animal Shelter, Fix Grayson County, American Legion Post 81 Honor Guard, or Leitchfield United Methodist Church.
