A former Magoffin County teacher has been sentenced to prison after he sent sexually explicit photos to a 14-year-old and “encouraging her to have sexual intercourse with him,” according to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
The attorney general’s Office said 32-year-old Jordan Cobb, a former teacher at Magoffin County Middle School, pled guilty to procuring the use of a minor by electronic means and harassing communications.
According to charges filed in Magoffin Circuit Court, in May 2023, Cobb used Snapchat to communicate with a 14-year-old student.
“He sent pictures of his genitalia and messages to the student, encouraging her to have sexual intercourse with him. A year later, he sent threatening messages to the same victim through Facebook,” the attorney general’s office said.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Cobb agreed to a five-year sentence and will be ineligible for probation. The sentence will run concurrent with federal charges related to the same investigation.
Kentucky State Police investigated the case.
He will be formally sentenced on June 5.
