A Glasgow man has been arrested for calling in a bomb threat to the Barren County Courthouse.

The threat came in at 10:00 a.m. Monday and claimed that there was a bomb in the building. The courthouse was evacuated while the Glasgow Police Department, Barren County deputies and bailiffs searched the building.

No threats were found.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Lee W. Elmore, made multiple calls to courthouse offices. The phone number of the caller was concealed. Police, though, through an investigation, discovered the phone number.

“Investigators also determined that after the evacuation, Elmore contacted court personnel and identified himself, using the same phone number that called the bomb threat in,” according to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

Elmore, who had a court date on Monday, was arrested at a Glasgow residence but not before trying to flee officers on foot.

The suspect was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center where he was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and fleeing or evading police (on foot).
