Three western Kentucky residents died when a vehicle plunged into the Mississippi River in Hickman County.
The incident happened on Saturday night when employees of Ingram Barge “heard a collision,” according to the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office, and notified police “after finding what they believed to be a car that hit their ramp and went into the river.”
“A diver with McCracken County Emergency Management dove down to the vehicle and hooked it up to a wrecker to be pulled out,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Once the vehicle was out of the water, three occupants were found inside.
They have been identified as 41-year-old Joshua R. Watson, 38-year-old Shranda C. Milam and 30-year-old Krista N. Whitt, all of Kevil in Ballard County, according to their obituaries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
