
A Grayson County man has been arrested after firing a gun inside a residence and assaulting three law enforcement officers.
The incident happened Saturday morning just after midnight when the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a residence on Joe Carroll Road in Anneta.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered that 23-year-old Matthew R. Loughran had fired a gun inside the occupied residence, according to the arrest citation. The suspect also allegedly assaulted a female during an apparent alcohol-fueled rampage where Loughran damaged property inside the home.
“During my investigation I observed multiple items broken and thrown throughout the residence,” the deputy wrote in the citation. “… I also observed that (Loughran) was highly intoxicated.”
Deputies additionally observed a “single bullet hole in the ceiling where the handgun was discharged …,” according to the citation.
Loughran was arrested and transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center for medical clearance where he is accused of kicking a deputy and two Leitchfield police officers. One of the LPD officers, the citation states, was kicked in the head by Loughran.
He additionally threatened to kill one of the deputies and his family.
Following medical clearance, Loughran was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he was charged with three counts of third-degree assault of a police officer, felony wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm), fourth-degree assault (dating violence), third-degree terroristic threatening, and first-degree disorderly conduct.
He is no longer listed as an inmate.
