A woman who fled Kentucky after being indicted for murdering her small child has been reindicted.
Latashia Mullins, 51, of Springfield, was originally indicted in June 2023 for murder and first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12) in the death of her child, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. She fled to Texas following the indictment.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, though, received a tip on Mullins’ location, as law enforcement in Collin County, Texas, and the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested Mullins in Plano, Texas, on June 10, 2024, the sheriff’s office said.
She has since been returned to Kentucky and was reindicted by a Washington County Grand Jury last month on the same charges she faced in 2023.
The indictment states in part: “… between January 19, 2022, and October 29, 2022, Mullins caused the death of another person and/or wantonly engaged in conduct creating a grave risk of death, and/or intentionally abused a child 12 years of age or less, causing serious physical injury,” according to gng On Demand.
Mullins is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
