A Leitchfield woman has been arrested after twice assaulting a Leitchfield police officer.
On Friday night at approximately 10:45, Leitchfield Officers Wally Ritter and Tamara Jupin were dispatched to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center regarding 44-year-old Jennie L. Lawson behaving aggressively and belligerently as she left the hospital against medical advice.
The dispatch was the third time officers were forced to deal with Lawson on Friday evening.
Upon arriving at the scene, Lawson was screaming profanities “at the top of her lungs and berating hospital staff” as she stood outside the facility, according to the arrest citation.
She was warned by officers on multiple occasions, the citation states, “to stop being disorderly.”
Once back inside the hospital, “she began cussing and shouting again at hospital staff,” as she smacked one officer in the face.
She was then told she was under arrest, and as police attempted to handcuff Lawson, she kicked an officer in the leg.
The suspect was then taken to the floor by police and arrested, as she “continued to pull away, resist, curse and attempt to assault us multiple times,” the citation says.
Lawson was medically cleared for incarceration and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where she was charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and second-degree disorderly conduct.
