
A school bus turned into the path of a deputy responding to an emergency call in Whitley County.
Kentucky State Police said the crash occurred on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:00 on Cumberland Falls Highway at the intersection of Cox Smith Road.
The state police investigation showed that a Whitley County deputy was traveling on Cumberland Falls Highway, with all emergency equipment activated, while responding to an accident.
“A Whitley County school bus attempted to turn onto Cox Smith Road from Cumberland Falls Highway when she pulled into the travel path of the … police vehicle and the two vehicles collided,” state police said.
Several children were taken to Baptist Health in Corbin with minor injuries and were later released. The deputy was treated for minor injuries and released.
This collision remains under investigation by Trooper Jack Riley.
