Police say a Henry County woman accused of shooting her husband in the back of the head as he slept claims the man assaulted their four-year-old son.
The slaying happened at the couple’s home Sunday night at approximately 8:30. Police have charged 34-year-old Tasha Bentley, of Campbellsburg, with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of her husband. She was additionally charged with trafficking in marijuana (less than five pounds), after police discovered several jars of marijuana in the home.
Court documents say Bentley shot 33-year-old Gary Bentley after he assaulted their four-year-old son by “throwing him in his bed and hitting the wall,” according to media reports. Bentley attempted to stop the assault but was kicked by her husband.
Police said Tasha Bentley removed more than 20 firearms from a safe in the home to convince investigators that the residence had been burglarized.
Tasha Bentley is being held in the Carroll County Detention Center.
