A 14-month-old child was treated for an opioid overdose and the infant’s mother has been arrested in Boyd County.
Police said 23 year-old Jocelyn Smith, of Ashland, was charged Tuesday night with first-degree wanton endangerment after her baby was taken to a local hospital and treated with Narcan. The child was in stable condition after the drug was administered.
Police officers, who responded to the King’s Daughters Hospital ER to assist Child Protective Services, went to Smith’s home and found the drugs.
Smith was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.
