On Friday night at approximately 5:15, the Allen County Sheriff’s office contacted Kentucky State Police requesting an investigation of a fatal officer involved shooting.
State police arrived at the location of the incident, 586 Lee Keen Road, and found that two Allen County deputies were involved in the shooting. Police said the preliminary investigation revealed that at 4:45 Friday afternoon, Allen County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Robinson, 33, of Scottsville, and Allen County Deputy Lieutenant Michael Wilson, 33, also of Scottsville, responded to 586 Lee Keen Road, about 15 miles west of Scottsville, after central dispatch received a 911 call reporting a white male brandishing a handgun was approaching houses in the area.
Upon police arriving on the scene, the deputies encountered 38-year-old Jason D. Whittemore, of Portland, Tennessee, in the driveway. Whittemore was armed with a handgun and refused to follow verbal commands from the deputies, resulting in Deputy Robinson shooting Whittemore once, police said.
Whittemore was pronounced dead at the scene by Allen County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
