The deadline to file for political office in Kentucky is Tuesday.

Candidates have until 4:00 Tuesday afternoon to file candidacy papers at either the Secretary of State’s office in Frankfort, or county clerk’s offices throughout the state.

Tuesday’s deadline, though, does not apply to those who file as Independent candidates, who have until April 2 to file. Write-in candidates have until October 26 to file a declaration of candidacy, and write-in votes will only be counted for those who file the declaration.

Locally, around 40 candidates have filed to run for the many government offices and positions on the ballot, and K105 will have a complete list of candidates after the filing deadline passes.

The 2018 Primary Election will be held on May 22.
