On Wednesday morning, local, state and federal law enforcement raided a Madisonville home suspected of being a den of drug activity.

Madisonville and Hopkins County authorities received numerous tips about possible drug activity at 403 Graves Street, with detectives beginning an investigation into the resident, 41-year-old Billy Ray Qualls Jr. During the course of the months-long investigation, police made several controlled buys of crack cocaine from Qualls, according to media reports.

Police executed a search warrant at 7:45 Wednesday morning, and during a search of the home, officers seized a “substantial amount” of crack cocaine and U.S. currency.

Qualls was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center where he’s been charged with five counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, his second offense. He has since posted a $5,000 bond.

The Madisonville/Hopkins County Narcotics unit, Madisonville Police Department, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State, and DEA were all involved in the investigation.
