Thursday night at approximately 8:50, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Resort Motel at 13689 Falls of Rough Road on the report of a disorderly intoxicated man brandishing a rifle.
Upon arriving at the scene, Deputies Dylan Bohn and Fred Norder knocked on the suspect’s room door. The suspect, 55-year-old James T. Eddington, of New Albany, Indiana, initially refused to answer the door, and when he did, he refused commands to exit the room. According to the arrest report, Bohn and Norder then “escorted the subject to the ground and detained him.”
After taking Eddington into custody, deputies spoke with the motel manager and the person who called 911, with both telling police that Eddington had been outside his room yelling threats and honking his car horn for an extended period of time.
Police said Eddington had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and displayed slurred speech and an “unsteady gait.”
While Norder transported Eddington to the Grayson County Detention Center, the suspect told the deputy, “I will bring my boys from Louisville and (expletive) you.” Once at the jail, Eddington continued to threaten Norder and Bohn, saying he was a detective with Louisville Metro Police and “that if he would take his handcuffs off he would ‘kick our ass,’” according to the arrest report.
Eddington was charged with terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, giving an officer a false name, disorderly conduct, menacing, public intoxication, and harassment.
He has since been released from custody.
