I read an article, the inspiration for this blog actually, that listed 10-15 songs that were supposed to get you hyped for the Spring and Summer months. Most of these songs were in the Pop genre and fell somewhere between 2006-2010, which don’t get me wrong, was an amazing time for music and artists, but is now a bit dated. So, this got me thinking, what new songs would I add to a playlist…or maybe a Mix CD? Yeah, I still make those and you can ask my coworkers, I make pretty awesome ones. I even have the old school CD organizer and blank discs that say things like “Summer Jamz” or “BFF Playlist.”

Most of the songs on my list are classified as Today’s Hits and in the Pop Genre because these artists are doing phenomenal things right now and the music is just so catchy. But, even if you think, “I don’t like this genre” or “That’s not my favorite kind of music,” give it a try because you just might find yourself jamming out with your besties… no matter what age you are.

  1. Finesse by Bruno Mars feat. Cardi B– What a duo! Cardi B is definitely on my to-watch list. I love her sound and sassiness!
  2. Meant to Be by Bebe Rexha feat. Florida Georgia Line– So, FGL (if you consider them to be country), add a bit of twang to this song to get you that Country Music Fix!
  3. New Rules by Dua Lipa– I LOVE THIS SONG. It keeps me dancing at my desk and stays stuck in my head all day.
  4. You Broke Up With Me by Walker Hayes– This truly is a country song, but in an upbeat moveable way that I love! I can definitely crank my radio up to this one.
  5. Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato– Spring is a time when things start to renew, but hey, maybe you are still feeling the wrath of a Winter breakup or some sort of frustration, if so, this is definitely the song to help you get through it.
  6. You Make It Easy by Jason Aldean– Okay, hear me out. This technically is a slower love song, but it is SO GOOD. It tells a beautiful story and the music that accompanies it, is just gorgeous. Maybe it isn’t one that you can necessarily jam out to, but you can still absorb and appreciate its meaning.
  7. Dirt on My Boots by Jon Pardi– This goes back to the good roots of country with the guitar and line dancing spirit, but it is also fast-paced and bumpin’. It’s definitely one of my faves!
  8. Super Bass by Nicki Minaj– This song is an oldie but such a GOODIE. It is my anthem when the weather gets warm because the beat and the lyrics are just so..there. (Disclaimer: you will want to search out the Clean version because the explicit language can be a bit much.).
  9. Thunder by Imagine Dragons– THUNDA! FEEL THA THUNDA! LIGHTNING AND THA THUNDA!! Love it!
  10. Wolves by Selena Gomez– I will be the first to admit, this song had to grow on me. I was not a fan at first, but after hearing it a few times I found myself swaying and moving to the music. Definitely give it a try!

This was a fun blog post to piece together as I sat and listened to songs that really just put me in a good mood and that is what the welcoming of Spring is all about.. good feelings and new energy! Maybe these songs aren’t your taste and that is totally fine, but tell me in the comments below which songs get you excited for windows rolled down, cruising, and sunshine filled days! I would love to hear from you!

Also, you can hear most of these songs on K105 or AM 870 The Moose, so start listening!

Until next time.
