The Franklin man who made five bombs and threatened to blow-up Franklin-Simpson Middle School has been sentenced in a Simpson County courtroom.
Trey Alexander Gwathney-Law was sentenced on Tuesday to 20 years in prison for constructing five Molotoz cocktails and telling a friend that he was going to blow-up the school in September 2015.
He is not eligible for parole.
Previous media reports on the incident indicate Gwathney-Law was bullied when he was a student at the school.
Russell Coleman, the prosecuting U.S. Attorney said in a statement that, “In this case, a phone call to law enforcement, and quick response by the Franklin Police Department and the ATF, may have saved Simpson County from untold harm. A vigilant public, aggressive law enforcement, and a significant punishment, 20 years, is the right formula for protecting our communities.”
