A double-murder suspect on the run for several weeks has been captured.

Police caught 41-year-old Terry Hammonds, of McKee, Friday morning.

Hammonds and his brother, 40-year-old Bobby Hammonds, also of McKee, are accused of killing 35-year-old Joey Marcum and 28-year-old Whitney Venable in December. One of the victims was discovered burned to death inside a truck, and the other was found nearby suffering from a fatal gunshot wound, according to multiple media reports.

Bobby Hammonds was arrested on April 27. Three days later, police got into a shootout with Terry Hammonds after receiving a tip on his location. He escaped by fleeing into a wooded area.

Terry Hammonds has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, arson, tampering with physical evidence, and resisting arrest, while Bobby Hammonds has been charged with two counts of murder, arson, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.

Both men are being held in the Jackson County Detention Center.
