63-year-old Hopkins Co. man arrested for sexually abusing, raping child in 1998

A Hopkins County man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing and raping a child under the age of 12 in 1998.

Madisonville police said James Leon Wilson, 63, of Hanson, has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape and four counts of first-degree sodomy, according to report at SurfKy.com. The violations allegedly occurred in 1998; there is no statute of limitations on felonies in Kentucky.

Police said a victim came forward with the allegations a few weeks ago, and after an investigation police arrested Wilson.

He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
