A Madisonville man has been arrested on multiple charges for committing crimes while brandishing a sword.
Police arrested 22-year-old Donelle Langley-Williams after robbing a gas station using a sword, chasing a man while holding the sword and attempting to set a house on fire.
The initial incident was at 8:00 Thursday morning when the suspect robbed the West Noel Avenue Marathon gas station armed with a sword, according to a report by SurfKy News.com. The robbery was captured on surveillance video.
About 12 hours later, Langley-Williams is accused of breaking windows and doors at a Bishop Street residence while trying to gain entry, and then chasing the male occupant of the home down the driveway with the sword in hand. Witnesses told police the suspect stuffed bottles with paper, set the paper on fire and tossed the bottles at the house.
All the while, the suspect was yelling at the victim to “give him his sister,” according to the media report. The victim told police he did not know Langley-Williams or the suspect’s sister.
Madisonville police, with guns drawn, confronted the suspect at the Bishop Street home, with Langley-Williams putting down the sword.
He was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, first-degree arson, first-degree assault, menacing, alcohol intoxication, and disorderly conduct. Langley-Williams was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
