Utica man charged with murdering Owensboro woman in domestic violence incident

On Tuesday, the Owensboro Police Department responded to the 2200 Block of Barron Drive on the report of a possible suicide.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found 26-year-old Matthew Adams, of Utica, who was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Authorities said that while on the scene, police obtained information leading officers to perform a welfare check on a female at an address in the 3200 block of Placid Place. When police arrived at the residence, they discovered 25-year-old Erica Owen deceased.

After receiving treatment, Adams was transported to the Owensboro Police Department where he was questioned and later arrested for killing Owen.

Adams was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on Tuesday night where he’s charged with murder (domestic violence).
