A former Laurel County Deputy Sheriff has been arrested after falsifying overtime timesheets.
According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, an investigation into discrepancies at the sheriff’s office found that 29-year-old Brandon Broughton’s timesheets showed he reported over $10,000 of overtime hours that he did not work. The fraudulent overtime timesheets were turned in by Broughton between January 2015 and May of this year.
Broughton, of London, was terminated after the discrepancies were discovered and investigated. He was arrested on Friday and charged with theft by unlawful taking (over $10,000), a class C felony.
