For the third time in less than three weeks, a Kentucky child has been killed in an accidental shooting.

The latest shooting death occurred at an Amish home in the 200 block of Buck Creek Road in Barren County. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the shooting at approximately 8:45 Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, detectives determined that a two-year-old was shot by a juvenile sibling while the sibling was handling a loaded rifle. The children were in the upstairs of the residence to retrieve items for a parent when the shooting happened, according to police.

The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene.

On August 15 in Louisville, two-year-old Montreal Dunn shot himself in the head after finding a loaded, unsecured handgun. And again on Friday, a three-year-old found an unsecured handgun and accidentally shot himself in the head in Harlan County.

No charges have been filed in any of the three shootings.
