Sunday night, the Leitchfield Fire Department provided over 20 children with Christmas gifts in the department’s Shop with a Fireman program.

Many of the children and their families gathered at Fire Station No. 1 to receive gifts and eat a meal courtesy of Leitchfield Fire Department personnel. Fire department members delivered presents to those children who could not attend the event.

The fire department was able to purchase Christmas presents because of generous donations from local businesses, including $3,000 from Bel Brands, $652 from Twin Lakes Liquors, $200 from John O’s Liquors, and $200 from Escue’s Wood Preserving. An LFD paint party raised $600.

“It feels knowing that we can take care of the some the needy kids in our community,” LFD Chief Tim Duvall said. “It’s wonderful seeing the smiles on their faces and seeing them get gifts that they would not be able to receive. It’s overwhelming, it really warms the heart.”
