A Peonia man has been arrested on drug and other charges after firing a handgun during a domestic dispute with his brother.
At approximately 1:45 Sunday morning, Grayson County Deputy Sheriff DJ Newton responded to the 8300 block of Peonia Road after receiving a report of a man firing a gun in the driveway of his home.
According to the arrest citation, the suspect, 52-year-old Joe Lashley, of Peonia, was in a domestic dispute with his brother when, with his brother standing “right next to him” and in an area with three homes within 100 yards, he fired his handgun “several times” into the air.
The citation says Lashley admitted to discharging his firearm.
Lashley was arrested and his firearm seized. During a search of the suspect, Newton found several pills, identified as Hydrocodone, Gabapentin and Diazepam (Valium), as well as drug paraphernalia.
Lashley was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, prescription controlled substance not in its proper container, alcohol intoxication in a public place, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
