A Big Clifty man is facing a minimum of 10-years in prison for possession of child pornography after violating the terms of his parole.
U.S. Attorney Russell M. Coleman said 68-year-old Lawrence William Taylor pled guilty in 2004 to online enticement of a minor in Georgia. He was sentenced to 168 months (14-years) in prison on that charge.
Upon his release from prison in 2016, he moved to Big Clifty, and on January 11, 2018, during an unannounced visit by U.S. Probation and Parole officials, Taylor was found to be living with a woman and 11-year-old child, a violation of his supervised release.
Federal authorities, including U.S. Probation and Parole and the U.S. Secret Service, obtained a search warrant for Taylor’s cell phone and during a forensic examination of the phone, discovered child pornography, adult pornography and sexually explicit images of children in cartoon format. Taylor obtained the images from the internet, according to authorities.
Taylor was indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2018 on one count of possession of child pornography. Last week, he pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Louisville to the charge and now faces a minimum of 10-years and maximum of 20-years in prison, along with a $250,000 fine.
