
One person has been killed in a deadly shooting at a Louisville Olive Garden restaurant.
Police responded at approximately 8:30 Saturday night to 4811 Outer Loop, near the Jefferson Mall, after 30-year-old Devone Briggs, of Louisville, shot 25-year-old Jose Munoz, of Sellersburg, Indiana, at the popular eatery.
According to Briggs’ arrest citation, Briggs and Munoz, who was eating at the restaurant, began arguing inside the establishment when Briggs pulled a gun and shot Munoz. Briggs admitted to shooting Munoz while being questioned by police.
Briggs fled the scene but was caught by police not far from the shooting.
Munoz was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he died about a half-hour after being shot.
Briggs was charged with murder and lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections on a $1 million bond.
Olive Garden issued the following statement on the shooting:
We are shocked and saddened by the senseless violence that occurred at our restaurant last night. Our hearts are with the friends and family of the victim, and we are grateful that no one else was injured. We thank the first responders who arrived quickly, and we will continue to cooperate fully with LMPD’s investigation.
