
Grayson County High School and Middle School HOSA are going to National Competition after a highly successful State Leadership Conference.
At the high school level, Allison Franklin came in first place in Clinical Specialty; Brianna Totten, was first in Medical Assisting; and Haleigh Brooks, Addie Horn and Kandler Lindsey took second Place in Public Health.
Brooklyn Glasscock received the Barbara James Service Award, given for her 175 hours of community service.
By placing in the top three of their events, these students, along with Glasscock, qualified for Nationals coming up in June.
High school HOSA members placing in the top five in their events were: America Jarboe, Dental Terminology; Taylor Kinser, Clinical Nursing; Maddison Dudgeon, Zeke Adkins and Peyton Spears, Health Education; Kaylee Embry, Matte Milam, Shelby Pierce, and Samantha Milliner, Community Awareness.
GC Middle School Jr. HOSA also took several top honors — Ava Hayes placed first in Prepared Speaking; Abby Smith and Breanna Dennison came in first in Health Career Display; Nikki Roof, Kaitlyn Newton and Jalin Faulkner took second in Health Education.
This marks the second consecutive year that all GCMS competitors have placed at State, qualifying for Nationals.
The HOSA International Leadership Conference will be held June 19 – 22 in Orlando, Florida.
