A Munfordville woman who killed her father and shot her mother has been sentenced in a Hart County courtroom.
Brina Nie, 22, pled guilty last month to manslaughter in the Easter Sunday 2018 shooting death of her father, 56-year-old Jeffrey Nie. She also pled guilty to first-degree wanton endangerment for shooting her mother, 58-year-old Barbara Nie, who survived.
Brina Nie was sentenced to 20 years in prison — 18 years for the manslaughter conviction and two years on the wanton endangerment charge, according to media reports.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, April 1, 2018, at about 3:15 when Kentucky State Police and the Hart County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting at 370 G. Shelton Road, in northern Hart County.
Upon arriving at the residence, police found both Nies had suffered gunshot wounds. They were found in an upstairs bedroom. Jeffrey Nie had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon completion of a preliminary investigation arrested Brina Nie, who resided at the residence with her parents.
