Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 110,000 cars in North America to fix a problem that could result in seat belts not protecting occupants in a crash.

The recall covers about 108,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2015 model year, according to officials. The company says the cars’ front seat belt cables may lose strength due to heat buildup and may not adequately restrain passengers.

Ford says it’s aware of one injury related to the issue.

Owners will be notified beginning September 9, and dealers will apply a protective coating to the seat belt cables.
