Two men have been arrested in Hardin County after attempting to meet juvenile girls for sex.
Melvin Dowell, 53, of Rineyville, and Jimmy Kwizera, 21, of Louisville, were arrested as part of a Kentucky Attorney General’s Office undercover investigation where authorities posed online as young females, according to the News-Enterprise.
The two men agreed to meet the two girls (actually undercover officers) in Elizabethtown; Kwizera on Thursday and Dowell on Friday. Both men were arrested when they arrived at the prearranged meeting locations.
Police said the men were under the assumption they were meeting females under the age of 16, with the suspects sending sexually explicit images to the undercover officers.
Kwizera was charged with attempted use a minor in a sexual performance, prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor for a sexual performance and attempted distribution of obscene matter to a minor.
Dowell was charged with attempted distribution of obscene matter to a minor and prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor for a sexual performance.
Both men were lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Neither suspect is currently listed as an inmate.
