A Nelson County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant and his girlfriend have been arrested for stealing from an Elizabethtown online auction company.

On Friday, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lt. Kaelen Matthews and 40-year-old Lora Armstrong, both of Bardstown, and charged each with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting, under $500) after the pair entered Fast Track It and stole “Members Mark brand Nutcracker Christmas decorations and one igloo cooler,” according to the arrest citation.

The citation says that surveillance video shows the two suspects taking the items out of the back of the business on carts and placing the stolen items in Matthews’ pickup truck without paying for the merchandise. The items are valued at nearly $350, police said.

Matthews and Armstrong were arrested and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

Matthews has been suspended without pay until the investigation is complete.
