Two Glasgow residents have been arrested after a traffic stop led to the discovery of nearly 180 grams (6.4 ounces) of methamphetamine.
On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4:00, the Barren River Drug Task Force and Glasgow Police Department executed a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. The subsequent investigation showed that 41-year-old Kelly R. Kerney tossed methamphetamine out of the vehicle prior to stopping for police. Ronald Woodard, 45, the vehicle’s other occupant, was found to have 14 grams of methamphetamine hidden in his belt line, according to police.
This led authorities to search Woodard’s Lexington Drive home where authorities discovered 167 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales and a large amount of cash. The seized meth is worth about $15,000.
Woodard was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kerney was charged with tampering with physical evidence. Additional charges are expected to be filed against Kerney.
Both suspects were lodged in the Barren County Detention Center but have since been released.
Kerney was previously convicted for manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and tampering with physical evidence in July 2018 in Barren County. He was also convicted in Barren County in 2005 on three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
