The city of Elizabethtown has increased the regulatory license fee for the sale of alcoholic beverages.

The Elizabethtown City Council earlier this week approved raising the fee from four percent to five percent.

The News-Enterprise reports that the city “reviewed the regulatory license fee revenues from the prior fiscal year and expenditures related to additional policing, and regulatory and administrative expenses related to the sale of alcoholic beverages.”

The investigation found that the city gained $800,000 in revenue from regulatory fees while spending in excess of $1 million “handling responsibilities related to alcohol sales, including law enforcement.”

The city of Leitchfield’s regulatory license fee is six percent.
