The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman shot and killed her husband.

Sheriff John Root said that Saturday morning at approximately 2:20, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a home on Hwy 490, about seven miles north of London. Upon arriving at the residence, investigators found that a domestic dispute between 35-year-old James Tyler McCowan and his wife, Charity McCowan, both of East Bernstadt, turned deadly when Charity McCown shot her husband twice with a handgun.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.

Root said the case will be presented to a Laurel County Grand Jury for possible indictment.
