A high-speed pursuit beginning near Shepherdsville ended with the arrest of two suspects near Fort Knox.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Scotty Sharp said the Shepherdsville Police Department and Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office initiated the pursuit after a Ford F-150 was involved in a hit-and-run at about 10:00 Monday morning.
Kentucky State Police joined the pursuit on Hwy 31-W, as the truck, being driven by 27-year-old Dakota Elliott, of Cumberland, Maryland, traveled south toward Radcliff at speeds reaching near 100 miles per hour. Troopers and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office attempted to deploy spike strips, but were unsuccessful, according to Sharp.
The pursuit exited onto Bullion Boulevard near Fort Knox before Elliott turned south on Veterans Memorial Highway. As the vehicle approached Veterans Drive, Elliott attempted to cross the median where he struck two Shepherdsville police cruisers, bringing the chase to an end.
Elliott and a Shepherdsville police officer were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. Elliott’s passenger, 31-year-old Danielle Gignac, of Cleveland, Tennessee, was also treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released.
Elliott was charged with DUI (aggravating circumstances), first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, first-degree assault (police officer), resisting arrest, violating a foreign EPO/DVO, and reckless driving.
Gignac was arrested on several out-of-state warrants.
Both suspects are lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
