Grayson County Circuit Court Clerk Stacie Blain has issued an update on her office’s operations as court officials deal with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Blain said that the doors are open to the courthouse for emergencies (domestic violence, emergency custody) and for “statutorily required hearings.” At the direction of Gov. Andy Beshear, neither driver’s licenses nor identification cards are currently being issued (if someone’s driver’s license expires, Beshear has granted a 90 day extension to renew).

The Read ID program has been extended until 2021, Blain said. She added that, for the first time in her tenure as Circuit Court Clerk, a jury panel has been extended.

Blain’s entire statement:

Our doors are monitored by security, but we are still working and taking your calls. By order of the Chief Justice, we are providing 50/50 staffing. Half of us are there the first of the week and the other half the end of week. This will help to keep our staff from each other in case one team becomes contaminated.

Our doors are open for emergencies such as domestic violence and emergency custody. We still have court proceedings involving such emergencies and other statutorily required hearings. People attending these hearings are limited to essential parties. We have sent out court notices assigning new court dates. If you had a court date, please feel free to call our office to confirm your new court date and time.

By Executive Order from the Governor, all issuance of drivers licenses and identification cards has been suspended. The Governor has granted a 90-day extension on your expiration date. Remember there is no late fee or penalty assessed when you do renew an expired license and you have a year from expiration before retesting is required. Also, real ID has been extended until 2021.

We have a unique situation whereby we have had to extend our current jury panel. This is a first time I’ve had to do this. You have been notified by mail of any new trial dates. You can call the night before your report date. If there are any changes, you will be notified.

If you need to make a court ordered payment, you can mail payment, or call for extension at 270 259-3040.
