With the announcement Wednesday that Grayson County has three newly confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), the county now has 101 cases of the virus.
Grayson County Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson and Grayson County Health Department Director Josh Embry announced the new cases Wednesday evening.
Officials said the new coronavirus cases are 57- and 27-year-old men and a 52-year-old woman. Officials said the new cases are an inmate at the Grayson County Detention Center (GCDC), an employee of the detention center and a Perdue Farms employee.
The two cases arising from the GCDC are the initial two COVID-19 cases at the facility.
With the announcement that two cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed at the GCDC, Wednesday marks the second consecutive day that an employee of one of Grayson County’s largest employers has tested positive for the virus after it was announced on Tuesday that staff member at Walmart tested positive.
No new deaths were reported Wednesday.
Of Grayson County’s confirmed cases of the virus, 45 are residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation while 16 are staff members. Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation has had 12 residents test positive along with one employee.
In total, 74 (73.3 percent) of Grayson County’s COVID-19 cases are tied to the county’s two nursing homes, while five Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center employees have tested positive for the virus.
As of Monday, 722 tests had been administered in Grayson County with 581 of the tests returned negative. Forty-five test results were pending as of Monday, and 36 (38.7 percent) victims have recovered from the virus.
The county has reported six COVID-19 deaths, all residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehab.
